In this piece I explore ostinato figures and the juxtaposition of two ways to collaborate: using music of melody and accompaniment or passages where the two players share a single line. The harmonies for much of the piece were derived from the quartal/quintal pitch collection of the opening melody, and these harmonies drive the groove across many meter changes.
Special thanks to my friend Kelly Merka Nelson for testing out even the earliest versions with me. The piece is dedicated to Pam Wilkinson and Kelly Merka Nelson.
