Remember<\/em><\/strong> (2016) for two bassoons, was composed for a summer solstice remembrance concert in the Rhijnhof Cemetery in Leiden on June 21, 2016. Two bassoonists, Clara Alija Senra and Jantine Veenstra performed the piece in this beautiful verdant setting. The piece poses the question of dialogue with those who have passed on. They live on in us, somehow, and even if we hear or follow them, they still somehow remain out of reach. It is a piece about remembrance and living on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a simple staging involved in this piece, with the first bassoon standing close to the audience and the second bassoon off in the distance, with option of pacing about. At the end, the first bassoon walks toward the second, never quite reaching them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
